Creativity, Connection, and Change

Hello! I’m Dr. Theresa Ronquillo, founder of Embody Change LLC. I’m a facilitator, educator, and consultant specializing in embodied learning and creative teaching to cultivate anti-oppressive working and learning environments. I believe that using our whole selves to build liberatory realities is EMBODYING CHANGE.

Do you seek innovative approaches to professional development, trainings, teaching, facilitation, education and curriculum? Are you open to new ways of unlearning oppressive behaviors and creating sustainable strategies for change?

EMBODY CHANGE EXISTS TO…

  • Center our identities and experiences

  • Center community

  • Center trust building

  • Center principles of intersectionality

  • Center collaboration

  • Center anti-oppression & liberation work

  • Center embodied & creative practices

  • Center reflection + action = praxis

  • Strive for a sense of belonging

  • Strive for a culture of care & solidarity

WHAT ROLE WILL YOU PLAY IN CREATING CHANGE?

  • “Thank you for asking us to act out our case study through tableaux [frozen poses] rather than talking. As you know, I am a quiet student and English is not my first language. Being able to explain our group’s ideas through tableaux allowed me to feel like I could contribute.”

    — Former School of Social Work student, University of Washington (paraphrased feedback)

  • “Theresa facilitated an experience that allowed our classroom community to dig deeper into the social justice concepts and ideas that we theorized about in class. We were able to actually wear, take on, and in many ways become the social work values that we discuss and strive for. ”

    — Dr. Nicole Corley, School of Social Work, Virginia Commonwealth University

  • “When you asked us to create a group sculpture and then a movement and sound ‘‘machine” to help us define and operationalize these important concepts we’re learning in class, I finally understood what these concepts mean. Acting it out brought these topics to life. Thank you so much!”

    — Undergraduate student at College of William & Mary (paraphrased feedback)

  • “I used one of the activities we learned in your workshop— the “image of the word” activity— with my students, to get them to understand certain concepts in deeper ways, through their bodies. It worked well! One of my students thanked me for doing that helpful exercise. ”

    — Faculty member, School of Social Work, Virginia Commonwealth University (paraphrased feedback)
